Last paycheck today. So I put it to good use and bought a Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra . The 60GB version, so I can have all of my music on it and have a little bit of space left over for new stuff. Shut up, I know I'm going to be unemployed in two weeks! It's my present to myself for doing a kickass job for three years from beginning to end, surviving the terror of 3vil bullying and meaningless hatred TWICE, relationship trauma, musical failure and coming out the other side, a bit bruised, but alive.

Stuff I meant to blog about this week, a place called Kuumba - as well as pissing us off regularly by being exclusively African and when I say African I mean African Caribbean, so not African at all - held a great big meeting because they want to build on the Westmoreland House site (and the spell it with a 'K' - Afrikan). Good idea, except for the fact that they only want a bit of it, and refuse to engage in any dialogue about the main building. No-one noticed though, because they've ignored the community and local partnership every step of the way. They got reluctantly involved because we made them, but were afraid someone else would steal the money.

But the real eyesore, the bit people die in will be untouched, and right next door. We dug out the owner though, there was a farcical 8 minutes on TV that threatened to undo the work everybody had done. They didn't talk to the partnership, or even mention the fact that there are meetings every month about it. But wait! This gets even better...

Our useless local MP Valerie 'The Absteiner' Davey called a meeting last week at Kuumba, which David Blunkett also attended, 'to see how the issue of regenerating Westmoreland House can be achieved, using the Kuumba Centre grant as a starting point .' Everybody got invites, but do we really need to start the process again? What's WRONG with these people? Electioneering? I think so.

This in a week where the Locum Director of the so-called Afrikan project calls for Black Schools for Black Children , so that they can get taught within their culture! Hmmm. We used to boycott countries for that. Let's have schools where we can tell the kids they're too stupid to go to normal white schools because they're black. Fucking brilliant. Even Immigrant hater Blunkett said 'I do not agree with apartheid in any form.' At the same meeting, I might add.

But then he includes the US as a country that has 'managed to cultivate a non-ethnic, non-racially based identity for themselves.' So while he accidentally said something right, the man is still an idiot. I'm not sure if all this saying nice things will win an election, I don't know if I'll be tracking these stories as avidly when I don't work there, but it'll be interesting to watch.
